A note on seasons. Peonies, tulips and ranunculus have their own seasons. When a stem is out of season we swap in the closest match for colour and shape, and we tell you before it goes out.

Four easy steps

  1. Choose your bouquet

    Pick a bouquet and a size, then add it to your basket. Add as many as you like.

  2. Pick delivery or collection

    Choose the day that suits. Order before 1pm for same-day delivery.

  3. Add a message

    Write a few words and we will handwrite them on a card and tuck it in.

  4. We tie it and send it

    Your flowers are tied by hand that morning, wrapped in paper and on their way.

Bridal bouquets, buttonholes, table flowers and ceremony arrangements, designed around your day, your venue and the colours you love. We also do christenings, parties, anniversaries and funerals.

How it works

  1. Say hello

    Tell us your date, venue and any ideas, however rough. A few colours or a mood is plenty to start with.

  2. Come for a chat

    A relaxed, no-obligation consultation in the shop, or by phone or video if that is easier. We talk through flowers, colours and budget.

  3. Your proposal

    You receive a written quote listing every arrangement. We adjust it until you are happy, and a deposit holds your date.

  4. Flowers on the day

    We make everything fresh, deliver it to your venue and set it up, so you can simply enjoy the day.

Choose the day of your first delivery in the basket. After that we deliver on the same day of the week, or the nearest one that suits. Want to give a subscription as a gift? Add a message and we will write the card.

Delivery & collection

To your door, or ours

We deliver by bike and small van, hand-carried to the door, not posted in a box.

Where we deliver

The town centre and the surrounding villages, up to about eight miles from the shop. Not sure if you are covered? Ask us before you order and we will tell you straight away.

Cut-off times

  • Same day: order before 1pm, Monday to Saturday.
  • Later orders: we deliver the next day.
  • Sundays: no deliveries, but the shop is open 10am to 2pm for collection.

Good to know

  • We deliver between 10am and 5pm on the day you choose. We cannot promise an exact time.
  • If nobody is in, we leave the flowers with a neighbour or somewhere safe and tell you where.
  • Sending flowers to a hospital, workplace or venue? Add the details at checkout and we will do our best.

About the shop

A small shop with big buckets

Petal & Stem is a small, independent flower shop: two florists, one workbench and a great many buckets. We buy what looks best that week, look after it properly and tie every bouquet by hand, so what leaves the shop is what we would want to receive.

If you are not sure what to choose, ask. Whether it is a first-date bunch, a difficult apology or a funeral, we would rather talk it through with you than sell you the wrong thing.

Look for the green door and the buckets of flowers outside. There is a step-free entrance, and street parking is close by. It is a five-minute walk from the bus stop.

Collecting an order? Give us your name at the counter and we will find it. Your flowers are ready from the time you chose, or as soon as we open.
